Description
Kaluga South Bypass with a bridge over the Oka River connects three federal highways: the M-3 Ukraine, R-132 Kaluga — Ryazan and R-92 Kaluga — Oryol. The new road allows diverting heavy vehicles to bypass the residential areas and reduces the traffic in the city. Driver’s comfort, speed and ecology — this is the new federal motor road as described by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation.

Construction of the bypass road
Construction of three new interchanges and rehabilitation of the existing one

Construction of the bridge over the Oka River. The right-side flyover is made of 8x24 m precast beams. The river span installed by launching is a box steel girder with an orthotropic carriageway plate
Main features
The bridge is located within a flood-prone area, so a 15m-high embankment with concrete slope protection was filled at both banks and diversion dikes were constructed.
