The designers have come up with several options for construction of the interchange that shall ensure smooth traffic via Stavropolskaya and Starokubanskaya Streets (two traffic lanes in each direction) and tram traffic on Stavropolskaya Street. The proposed design options include:

•    The “Flyover Option” (4-level) with two straight flyovers of different levels for motor transport traffic on Stavropolskaya and Starokubanskaya Streets, a roundabout section for the change of direction and a tramline located in the tunnel.

•    Option with a straight flyover on Starokubanskaya Street, a tunnel on Stavropolskaya Street and a roundabout for the change of direction.
•    Option with a straight flyover on Stavropolskaya Street, a tunnel on Starokubanaksya Street and a roundabout for the change of direction.

The second and the third options provide for construction of a roundabout on low flyovers with exit ramps; the tramline is to be located in the semi-tunnel. If the ground level (pedestrian zone) is considered, the second and the third interchange options have five levels.

The designers consider the second and the third options to be preferable to the first.

The main challenge the designers face is that the future interchange is to be located in the city built-up area with numerous buildings and utilities.
