New overpass above the railway at Vitebsky Prospekt opened to traffic

The new road overpass is part of the first phase of the East-West Expressway Project that includes construction of an interchange with Vitebsky Prospekt. The new interchange will ensure a comfortable transport link between the city centre and the Western High Speed Diameter and St. Petersburg Ring Road.

East-West Highway with a bridge over the Neva  St. Petersburg Master Plan envisages that the East-West Highway together with the Western High Speed Diameter (WHSD) and the Ring Road will form the network of urban highways. The highway is designed to ensure a new transport link between the city centre and outskirts. WHSD and the East-West Highway will create a bypass diverting transit traffic from the centre of St. Petersburg to the network of highways and throughfares.
