New stretches of the Far Eastern Railway open to traffic

New stretches of the Far Eastern Railway open to traffic 01.11.2023

Three new stretches have been open to traffic within the Baikal – Amur railway modernisation project, stage 2: a track duplication stretch between Ulak and Verkhnezeisk and two passing loops between stations Dugda and Nora, and between stations Drogoshevsk and Skalisty.

The track duplication stretch and passing loops are part of a 340km-long railway section Ulak - Fevralsk. Our company developed the design and working documentation for its modernisation and carried out the designer’s supervision during construction.

The completed works include installation of about 11 km of track panels and construction of turnouts and 6 bridges. Totally, the stretch between Uralsk and Fevralsk is planned to have 9 turnouts and track duplications and 50 new railway bridges, from 15 to 116 m long. The total length of new tracks is 102 km.

The project aims to modernise the existing railway infrastructure to increase traffic and carrying capacity of the railway in the direction of the Far East sea terminals and cross-border points.
