Stroyproekt Shares Experience in Development of Intelligent Transport Systems 19.09.2016

The 3rd International Conference "Role and Place of Intelligent Transport Systems on Russian Toll Roads -  Modern  Development Trends" (ITSONROAD) organized by the State Company Russian Highways was held in St. Petersburg on September 8-9, with the support of the Ministry of Transport and the Federal Road Agency.

Representatives of Russian and international business, federal and regional authorities, scientific community, educational and financial institutions, design, consulting, engineering and construction companies and regulatory bodies have attended the conference.

Dmitry Sleptsov, Deputy Chief Engineer of Stroyproekt Moscow branch presented the report on "Application of state-of-the-art traffic management aids on the M-4 Don motorway as a case study”. The report covered specific features of developing the rehabilitation design for this federal highway using the German codes and pointed out the main differences between them and the Russian codes. It also highlighted the issues of interfacing the traffic management subsystem with general technical and structural solutions of the project.

According to the Chairman of the Board of the State Company Russian Highways Sergei Kelbakh, “today St. Petersburg is one of the leaders in developing ITS for transport construction. The new express toll highway M-11 Moscow - St. Petersburg and the Western High Speed Diameter in St. Petersburg are the most advanced highways in terms of application of new automated traffic management systems and ITS. These roads are the engine that brings the entire road sector to the future, both in legal and technological terms".
