New technologies in construction and operation of bridge structures discussed at Road-2019 Exhibition 17.10.2019

On October 17, the round-table discussion on the use of new technologies to increase safety and reliability of bridges in construction and operation took place at the international road exhibition in Ekaterinburg.

Deputy General Director Mikhail Tsarev made a presentation of BIM-technologies applied for construction and operation of bridge structures.

Stroyproyekt has developed an original software package - S-INFO, which is a BIM platform. It functions as a database system and a project management system based on the data from three-dimension engineering models of construction projects. The software product has been already certified by the state patent bureau Rospatent.

Mr. Tsarev says that Stroyproekt has already completed some major infrastructure projects with the use of BIM. The largest ones are: Barnaul By-pass, Far Western Krasnodar By-pass, the Vladivostok-Nakhodka highway, and a number of projects in St. Petersburg, including the Betancourt Bridge and the East-West highway.

The technology proved to be very effective, due to enhanced data sharing, which enables much better coordination of various components of a project. It also ensures early detecting and eliminating of design errors, which could not be seen in two-dimension drawings, and often required going through a huge amount of design documentation to cross-check a single technical solution.

This innovative technology is an issue of great interest for both public sector and private design and construction companies.
