New section of M-11 Moscow – St. Petersburg highway is open

New section of M-11 Moscow – St. Petersburg highway is open 23.12.2014

The length of the commissioned road section is 43 km. The traffic design speed is 150 km/hour. The number of lanes varies from 8 to 10.

The new highway section will provide a more comfortable and fast access to the Sheremetyevo international airport and a number of towns located in Moscow Region. The design provides for a toll road operation, however according to Avtodor the road section will be for now operated in a testing mode.

The first section of the M-11 highway opened for traffic was Vyshni Volochok Bypass from 258 km to 334 km of the road. Its opening ceremony took place on 28 November 2014.

Moscow – St. Petersburg highway will pass through the Central and North-West Regions of Russia: Moscow, Tver, Novgorod and Leningrad Regions bypassing all populated areas. The road will be one of the first highways in Russia of European quality and safety level and will become a toll alternative for the existing М-10 Russia federal road. The entire Moscow - St. Petersburg toll highway will be completed in 2018.
