The entire Back-up of Kurortny Prospect in Sochi is open for traffic

On 3 February 2014, a two-way final section of the Back-up of Kurortny Prospect, including 3 tunnels, was commissioned. The completed road is a new European level transport link in the city centre.

According to Mr. R. Starovoit, Director of the Federal Highway Agency, the new thoroughfare will considerably relieve traffic congestion in the central streets of this Black Sea Resort. 

The Back-up was constructed in 3 stages. On 27 January 2013, Stage I was commissioned and Stages II and III were open for traffic on 7 January 2014.

Institute Stroyproekt has been the General Designer of the Project and has carried out the Author’s Supervision.

Kurortny Prospect Alternative Road in Sochi Kurortny Prospect Alternative Road is one of the main transport infrustructure facilities built for the 2014 Olympics. The 16km-long motorway with tunnels, bridges and flyovers goes through the city centre and ensures uninterrupted traffic at 75 km/h. In 2016, the project won the award for Best Transport Infrustruture Project in the contest organised by the Russian Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities.
